Note From Mae

Neck deep in my currently gritchy state, I found these notes in a letter from my dear "old soul" friend, Mae. It is my heart marinade today:

Romans 8:26-26 "Therefore the Spirit supports our weakness; for we know not rightly what we should pray for, but our own spirit itself pleads with stammering sighings; and the Searcher of our hearts sees the object of our spirit when He intercedes with God for the saints." (Fenton Version)

Isaiah 40 - Who God Is
Isaiah 53 - Cost of Redemption
Romans 8 - Christian's True Life

"If you have displayed your folly, and if you have blundered, keep still." ~Proverbs 30:32 (Ferrar Fenton Version)

Look up, the moment you feel irritation, and say, "Thy sweetness, Lord!" Take the opposite of your temptation and pray that! "Thy kindness -- gentleness -- patience -- courtesy -- calmness -- unselfishness -- Lord!, etc." But the secret is instantly.

Aren't You just so caring to give words of life to the suffocating and needy?! XO

enough

From My Utmost: The only thing that will enable me to enjoy the disagreeable is the keen enthusiasm of letting the life of the Son of God manifest itself in me. No matter how disagreeable a thing may be, say - "Lord, I am delighted to obey Thee in this matter," and instantly the Son of God will press to the front, and there will be manifested in my human life that which glorifies Jesus. There must be no debate. The moment you obey the light, the Son of God presses through you in that particular… You must keep yourself fit to let the life of the Son of God be manifested, and you cannot keep yourself fit if you give way to self-pity… If God puts you there, He is amply sufficient.

O, Lord, You ARE enough! You are everything I ever need, ongoingly available to me in the moment, all lined up one after the next and the next and the next. You are my portion—“that which is allotted to me,” the ALL of You is my inheritance. I can spend You—You cannot be squandered or frittered away! “Tax Me! See if you can!” You are my Refuge, my Stronghold, my High Tower, my Deliverer, my Way, my Purpose, my Life. Though the path seem demanding or boring, You are my Enough.

the high places

I came across this phrase in Amos 4:13 and looked it up in different translations.

NIV: [He] treads the high places of the earth

Young's Literal: [He] is treading on high places of earth

Message: He strides across the alpine ridges.

NASB: [He] treads on the high places of the earth

The Lord walks upon the high places. He goes about up there, powerfully, full of glory, at will, in all His full blown splendor. He created them, they are of Him. They are a holy place where He is worshiped. What a horrible dishonor He puts up with when there is rubble and flotsam and dung where only holiness belongs. Your unearthly patience and tenderness compel me to do serious hasmat cleanup. What swollen shame to make and keep idols there, to blacken His holy places.

I want nothing, absolutely nothing, to dishonor You in my high places. I want there to be snow white purity and childlike exhibition in my worship on these high places.

"Clear me from hidden and unconscious faults.
Keep back Your servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me! Then shall I be blameless, and I shall be innocent
and clear of great transgression. Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my firm, impenetrable Rock and my Redeemer." ~Ps. 19:12b-14 (Amp)
